Role of the OT in medico-legal work
The course focuses on the medico-legal field starting with explaining and breaking the “system” into understandable chunks. Once the field is understood, we will then look at the specific and unique role of the OT and also how to position yourself as an OT to successfully and proficiently fulfilled this role. We look at the scope of practice of the OT in this specific field. The workshop also covers step by step processes of how to compile a quality medico-legal report looking at assessment, observation and report writing skills. We further look at relevant topics such as Joint Minutes, Pre-trials, Court Attendance, etc.
The course is ideal for Community Service Occupational Therapists who aspire to work in the medico-legal and related sectors. If you are working in other OT fields and are curious whether the medico-legal field is for you, you will benefit greatly from the course as all your questions will be answered.
